As cannabis becomes ever more popular…and legal…growers are becoming large commercial operations. To process huge amounts of weed, they simply cannot afford the labor to hand prune each bud. Instead, they must rely upon large pruning machines. First, whole cannabis plants are pulled through holes or slots in metal plates which strip off buds. This process is called Bucking. Next, the buds are shoveled into large revolving strainer drums where they tumble around breaking off all stems, outer leaves, sugar leaves and fine hairs. The end result is hard, lack-luster nugget buds seriously stripped of much of their original favorable Terpenes and Cannabinoids.
